Online CPR Certification Provider American Health Care Academy Launches "How It Works" Video

“In recognition of October being Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, we wanted to provide even more help to our customers,” said Sophia Smith, the Marketing Manager for AHCA. “We're doing everything we can to encourage them to help save lives.”

More than 250,000 deaths occur every year due to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). In fact, SCA claims one life about every two minutes, taking more lives each year than AIDS, lung cancer or breast cancer. To decrease this heinous SCA death toll, it is important for the American public to understand what SCA is, what the signs and symptoms are, and how to respond and prevent SCA from occurring.

Part of SCA help and prevention comes from CPR/Automatic External Defibrillators training, which AHCA offers online. It's been proven that succesful use of AED can drastically enhance someone's chances of surviving an SCA. CPR, which is now celebrating its 50th year of use, has also saved countless lives through the simple application of the “hands-only” method, as well as more advanced methods using assisted breathing techniques.

AHCA's “How It Works” video is intended to provide visual aids for potential clients who wish to learn more about how CPR – and learning CPR online – works, and addresses the different learning styles different people have, by providing a live demonstration that can be replayed at will. The video can be viewed at: http://cpraedcourse.com/howitworks.

“Teaching our customers in the way they learn best is important to us,” Ms. Smith said. “The 'How It Works' video is an important step forward in demonstrating the power of online CPR classes.”

The American Health Care Academy provides online CPR certification and online first aid certification, designed with the busy adult in mind. Students, parents and others with a desire to get CPR training can take AHCA's quick and easy first aid courses and gain new CPR certification or re-certification in the comfort of their homes, on their schedule.

    To prepare for pet emergencies

The Pet professional Guild (PPG), a member organization that is founded on the principles of force-free training and pet care, proudly announced the launch of the first complete pet first aid course.  Delivered via the Internet, the course is designed to teach first aid skills that are necessary for the implementation of aid to competently a sick or injured pet.  Knowing what to do during the initial minutes after an accident or trauma can be critical in the life of a pet.

According to Chairman PPG, NIKI Tudge, "everyone can benefit from learning some basic first aid.  Our new program is very comprehensive and quite extensive for pet industry professionals who need first aid skills in business and career but is equally suitable for pet owners who want to be prepared for emergencies. "the American Red Cross and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) recommends that all pet owners learn pet first aid skills to help keep their animals safe and healthy.  Pet owners and professionals trained in pet first aid measures and proper life-saving techniques are better prepared to handle the routine and threatening emergencies when they occur.

To qualify for the PPG pet first aid certification, applicants must attend online program 3-hour, pass a rigorous written exam and submit four videos to PPG to demonstrate understanding of matter and the responsibility of first-aid skills practice.  Tudge says, ' our PPG has developed first aid by a technician veterinary certification in accordance with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) guidelines and teaches the basic skills and procedures that can potentially save a pet's life by giving you the knowledge to provide basic treatment to a sick or injured animal VET until professional help is available. "  The AVMA reminds pet owners and professionals that first aid is not a substitute for veterinary care, but this may save the life of a pet so veterinary treatment is available.

PPG plans to offer an increasing number of programs based on the "force-free" philosophy of your pet training and pet care.  Tudge says, "as pet ownership continues to grow and to develop activities that owners can enjoy with their pets, knowing basic first aid skills are more crucial for owners and industry professionals.  We believe that the pet owning public needs trusted educational resources based on guiding principles of PPG.

We define our philosophy clearly, methods and techniques that our members use so the public can be assured that every Guild Member will provide services in accordance with the guidelines and stated philosophy.  The public can ensure that only the power-free methods adopted education and care for their pets. Vinnie Jones : Too Hard For CPR?

“We shouldn’t be bothering with Mouth to Mouth”. Anyone who has been watching TV lately will no doubt of seen the advert featuring Vinnie Jones linked to Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Hard man Vinnie has been doing some first aid behind the scenes, and it has no doubt appealed to many people who have no prior knowledge of the subject.

The advert is set in a gangster’s hideout where a non breathing body is thrown across the floor. Vinnie is quick to act and explains the method of delivering “Hands Only CPR”. The idea is that you don’t have to worry about blowing oxygen into someone’s lungs instead you immediately begin artificially pumping the heart.

The British Heart Foundation has created an exciting ad that has certainly got people talking. Controversy comes in the form of the 1000’s of First Aid Courses that instruct us to perform full CPR. There is no doubt that Vinnie’s chest compressions can be a life saver, but what about the body’s requirement for a constant stream of Oxygen? Vinnie Goes on to say that there “should be no kissing as you only kiss your missus on the lips”

It’s worth noting that if you are first aid trained and want to blow oxygen into someone’s lungs then do not hesitate. CPR is all about artificially moving air into a casualty’s lungs and then pumping it around the body via chest compressions. Visit http://www.train-aid.co.uk for my details. One day you could be called upon to touch the lips of your best mate, work colleague or Golfing Partner.

First Aid Kits Now Available at Egan Medical

Egan Medical Equipment and Supply is happy to announce that First Aid Kits are now available for purchase directly through the company's website and online store. The 183 piece kits contain a wide variety of medical supplies to help in the event of any number of different types of emergency situation.

As any emergency medical technician can attest, when faced with a medical emergency, preparation can often mean the difference between life and death. The same applies to injuries and emergencies of a less severe nature. Often times, the severity of an injury or wound can be exacerbated by a lack of preparedness, and vice versa. The severity of any number of injuries and wounds such as cuts, gashes, abrasions and scrapes can often be minimized with a little preparation followed by fast action once the injury has occurred.

Often times, by simply taking the necessary steps to prevent an infection (or at the very least reduce the probability of an infection occurring), the person suffering the injury can be spared a great deal of misery, and the healing time required can be greatly reduced.

First Aid Kits are exactly the sort of thing many people don't even think about until they need one. That said, Egan Medical has decided to offer the kits, which retail for over $30, for just $18.90 as part of an ongoing effort to help educate the public about emergency preparedness. One major part of emergency preparedness has to do with having a first aid kit present, and that fact is not lost on Egan Medical, hence the promotion.

The First Aid Kit and a complete list of its contents including all of the specific sizes, styles and quantities of each item contained within the kit can be found here: http://www.eganmedical.com/183-Piece-First-Aid-Kit-p/msom...

The kit contains a wide assortment of various medical supplies sufficient to treat minor injuries, cuts, scratches, scrapes, insect bites, stings from plants (such as poison ivy, oak and sumac), splinters and other minor injuries not requiring hospitalization or an immediate trip to the emergency room. In the event a serious injury does occur, call 911 or seek emergency medical assistance immediately. The 183 Piece First Aid Kit from Egan Medical is not intended to serve as a standalone treatment for moderate or severe injuries or any medical emergency.

Some of the items contained within the kit are as follows:

    - Adhesive Bandages of varying sizes and styles

This kit is not designed to serve as a replacement for the emergency room in the event of a moderate-to-severe injury or medical emergency.

Checking a Pets Vital Statistics, Pulse and Heart Rate Should be:

    Normal resting rates:
    Cats: 150-200 bpm
    Small dogs: 90-120 bpm
    Medium dogs: 70-110 bpm
    Large dogs: 60-90 bpm
Pulse should be strong, regular and easy to locate.

    Checking the pulse:

The easiest place to locate a pulse is the femoral artery in the groin area. Place your fingers on the inside of the hind leg and slide your hand upward until the back of your fingers touches the abdomen. Gently move your fingers back and forth on the inside of the hind leg until you feel the pulsing blood. Count the number of pulses in 15 seconds and multiply that number by 4. This will give you the beats per minute (bpm).

Utah CPR Certification Courses and First Aid Training Offered as Low-cost Community Service

Low-cost CPR certification courses, first aid training, and recertificaiton classes are now available in Utah it was announced by the Association of Health and Wellness, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity.

“Certification classes take only 3 1/2 to 4 hours to complete and include three certifications in one combined class for standard first aid, adult and pediatric CPR, and AED. The cost for the combined class is less than what other organizations charge for just one certification, and takes only half the time of other classes,” explained David Bresnahan, executive director.

Companies and community organizations can schedule a training class at a time and location convenient to the participants. A nationally recognized ECSI certification card is provided upon completion of the class. Certification meets or exceeds the Heart Association and Red Cross guidelines, according to Bresnahan.

ECSI certification cards are accepted by employers, government agencies, the military, the Boy Scouts of America, youth sports programs, and others. Course materials were developed by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Wilderness Medical Society, four of the most respected names in injury, illness, and emergency medical care.

“The minimum class size is just five, and for classes of 10 or more the cost per person is reduced to only $30. Companies may schedule classes for employees. Community organizations are able to schedule a class for their members, and individuals may invite friends, family, and neighbors to join together to form a group large enough to have a class,” explained Bresnahan.

“Sudden injury as well as heart attacks and stroke are the main cause of death, so people we train in first aid and CPR skills can help prevent many of those deaths. Our mission is to enable many more members of the general public to become trained in first aid, CPR, and AED. We do not want cost to deter people from getting trained, so we keep the fee as low as possible,” he added.

Details about the various first aid and CPR certification classes can be found online at http://www.FirstAid-CPR-AED-Utah.com, including information on how to schedule a class.
